All these people were at the unveiling of the stone memorial to Doctor Galligan here in Kilnaleck today. It rained, so I’ll go up another day and get a photo of the stone itself. Here it is. A lot of them came down here to the bar for lunch afterwards and there was a good session with kids playing some great music.

Saturday, March 28th, 2009Dr Galligan Weekend
Saturday, March 28th, 2009This weekend the Comhaltas Ceolteoiri Eireann have organised a memorial weekend for Doctor Brian Galligan, from Kilnaleck, one of the founding members of the organisation and a great patron of Irish music and culture. Last night the weekend was launched in The Farnham Arms Hotel in Cavan; tonight there’s a big traditional Irish Concert in Crover House Hotel; and tomorrow there’s mass here in Kilnaleck at 11 o’clock, unveiling of a memorial stone at 2 o’clock, and great trad sessions in every pub in the town after that.

Lots of Dr Galligan’s family were in the Farnham last night; here’s three generations – his son Seamus, grandson Brian and great-grandson Darragh (commonly known as Brian Doc, Seamus Doc and Darragh Doc
)

Pyjama Day
Saturday, March 28th, 2009Yesterday was the National Children’s Nursery Association Pyjama Day in aid of the Make A Wish Foundation. Pre-school kids and their teachers (or keepers!) all over the country showed up to school in their pyjamas. Teresa Leddy from Ardleny has a creche in Cathedral View, Cavan and here they all are. This photo was on the front page of the Anglo Celt, our local paper.
